CASA BIANCA

A Journey of Spatial Exploration

Carved into the steep terrain, this 2,000 sqm single-family villa unfolds as a dynamic architectural promenade, seamlessly guiding its inhabitants from earth to water to sky. Thoughtfully positioned at the pinnacle of the sloping site in Adma, Lebanon, the design responds to the site's dramatic topography while fully embracing the vast Mediterranean panorama, blurring the boundaries between landscape and built form.

The design suggests a symbolic passage into a sanctuary, leaving the external world behind and preparing the occupants for a serene transcension. The journey is a carefully orchestrated sequence - beginning with a processional entry through a portal sculpted from the site’s natural bedrock, leading to a ground-level reception area. Shifting through the central stair, the path ascends toward the rooftop, where the pool emerges as a reflective void - a serene body of water in which movement, material, and light converge to shape an immersive spatial narrative. Finally, the ascent culminates with a moment of divinity where the dialogue between earth and sky is fully realized. Doubling as an observatory deck, the rooftop experience returns the visitors to the open air, reinforcing the project’s core principle: an uninterrupted connection from nature to nature.

This vertical choreography reimagines the traditional hierarchy of the home, inviting a new dialogue between elevation, intimacy, and experience. Formal living areas are elevated to the uppermost level, where expansive glazing frames transforming daily life into a series of framed vistas of the Mediterranean Sea. Below, the ground floor unfolds into multipurpose spaces, dissolving boundaries between interior and landscape, offering a seamless transition to the garden. Nestled in between, the bedrooms occupy the intermediate level, striking a delicate balance between privacy and openness, with uninterrupted views to the horizon.

Conceptually, the design prioritizes the sensorial experience of space, manipulating air, light, and materiality to create a distinct atmosphere. The central stair is not merely a functional element but a significant architectural element that shapes the entire design. It operates as a light well, a ventilation shaft, and a spatial connector, by ensuring that even the deepest spaces are infused with natural light, while the perforated panels operate as an intricate veil that plays on opacity and transparency. It catches the changing light, casting a dance of shadows that evolve with the passing hours, a silent dialogue between space and nature. The illumination of the villa reinforces its role as a sanctuary where light actively shapes the spatial experience.

The design proposes a holistic experience of serenity. The dynamic tension between the "white mass" and the expansive vistas defines the architectural character, blurring the boundary between the built and natural environments. CASA BIANCA presents a deliberate paradox: a striking visual simplicity, a pure white box, concealing an internal complexity and a multi-layered program, leading to an everchanging spatial exploration.
